Peninsula YMCA is located in a residential neighborhood of Point Loma in San Diego. As the community grows, the necessity of the facility called attention for expansion. The new facility including a new gymnasium, fitness center, community teen / senior center, etc. are encased in the new two story structure.

Being located adjacent to Correia junior high school, Peninsula YMCA has developed the joint relationship with the school for students to share the facility. YMCA has encouraged the community to make use of their community rooms as well.

Arrived at the main entry, the visitors are welcomed by the gentle natural lighting from the roof canopy covered with translucent insulated panels supported by the rows of Y-shaped columns, which symbolize YMCA.

The facility is designed to be environmentally-friendly. In order to achieve this important task, LEED certification was chosen to evaluate our goals.

Some features including photovoltaic solar power generation, the use of translucent insulated panels, and the solar water heating system for the swimming pool are integrated.
